Nita Barrow was born in 1916. She was a trained nurse. She became the fifth governor general of Barbados in 1990. She died holding this position in 1995 at seventy-nine years old.
She became a Nursing Advisor for the Caribbean area in 1964. She was the first Principal Nursing Officer in Jamaica. She was president of World YWCA from 1975-1983. YWCA seeks to empower women.
