Choosing between a “9-5” and Entrepreneurship.
The road to financial freedom can actually be a long and challenging one, it is even more excruciating when you cannot seem to find your fit on what suits you best. While being independent can come with a lot of baggage sadly not everyone is meant to be an entrepreneur, it might be easy for some to carry out numerous tasks involved in running a business by themselves but others just seem to do better working as a team and receiving direct orders. Regardless, both fields come with it own rainy and sunny days and in the end, your mental health is a key factor that determines the path that is most favorable for you.
Here’s how to make the right decision.
1. Your mental health is topnotch priority.
To understand that making money comes with immense pressure is key to selecting the right choice. You need to weigh your options and put yourself in both scenarios, what is your coping mechanism if it becomes too daunting for you to handle? Will it directly or indirect have negative effects on your mental and overall health? Will you have the time, peace and satisfaction you desire? Highlighting these questions will help you to determine the path to choose.
2. Your resources matters.
You need to identify the resources available at your disposal. These resources includes; finances, adequate knowledge on that field, time, experience and expertise, channels available to you and many other resources not mentioned here. After highlighting the field you want to venture in, it’s time to weigh your options if truly a 9-5 or entrepreneurship is what seems realistic enough based on your resources.
3. Short-term and long-term goals should be your guide.
Even after all this factors, you need to decide the future projections of whichever field you want to venture into. Is it something you still see your self doing in 5 years time or more? Or is it something just for the time being and something else might zap your attention with time? Your projections will most definitely help you come to a conclusion on how to choose your desired path.
4. External and internal factors might make or break you.
While this is most certainly unpredictable however it is no news that some factors present or future might sway your decision. No one saw the pandemic coming right? Let’s use that as a case study, if you were an entrepreneur do you think your business will still be on track and survive that trial? Also if you were an employee do you think that trial might put you at a risk of loosing your job or costing you some additional expenses? In the end, I believe you should know the answer now and how to best choose a career path that gives you that satisfying glide through life.
Until next time dear reader…
